How soon after a sexual encounter can I get tested?
Better2Know’s private Instant Four Screen has an incubation period of 28 days. This is the time between potential exposure to infection and the time of your Instant Four Screen appointment. It is important that you are honest about your period of incubation, as testing before this time has elapsed can reduce the accuracy of your confidential results.
Which samples does the Instant Four Screen require?
The Instant Four Screen uses blood and swab samples to detect four STIs. The doctor at your private appointment will use your swab samples to look for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea infections, while the blood sample will detect HIV and Syphilis. The blood samples used in Better2Know’s instant tests and screens can be collected via finger prick lancet for your convenience. There are no fasting or dietary requirements associated with the Instant Four Screen.

What will happen at my private appointment?
The private doctor performing your Instant Four Screen in Africa will explain the testing process to you. They will then collect the two swab and two blood samples form you. Then they will perform the test. Once the results have run, you can be given a copy of your results to take with you.
When will my confidential results be reported?
Your blood and swab samples will be analysed whilst you wait in the testing centre and will be reported from 10 minutes after you have provided your samples. Upon receipt of your results, you will also be given a signed and completed Rapid Test Results Report by your Better2Know doctor.
What if my Instant screen is reactive?
If your Instant Four Screen is positive for one or more of the STIs included in this screen, Better2Know will help you access the treatment and support you need. You will be provided with an immediate prescription by your doctor if your test shows that you have a Chlamydia or Gonorrhoea infection. Patients with positive HIV or Syphilis reactive results can provide a venous blood sample for further, confirmatory testing, at on further charge to you. If these confirmatory tests are positive, we will then refer you to a local specialist from our network who can help you.
