HIV RNA PCR Testing

Our 10-day HIV test will detect the presence of HIV, just 10 days after any potential exposure to the virus. This test is available as a stand alone test, or as part of the Better2Know Early Detection Screen, which also detects Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C infections.

PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) is a testing method that extracts and amplifies the genetic material of an organism. This looks for the presence of the virus itself, therefore the incubation period is shorter when compared to other types of HIV and STI testing. This allows us to provide the fastest possible results throughout Africa and beyond.

The 10-day HIV test is slightly less sensitive than the 28-day HIV DUO test. So, for complete peace of mind, it is advisable to have a follow up, HIV DUO test after at least four weeks. The results of your HIV RNA test  will be ready five working days from the receipt of your sample in our fully accredited laboratory.
